An ELT Teacher

I’ve been teaching for around 4 years or so. In the last two years, I have decided to concentrate on making everything in my lessons more ‘authentic’. For me, that means trying to step away from graded coursebook texts and strange conversation topics, and into a classroom where people discuss real things and read real English, even at lower levels.

In this blog, I’m hoping to post lesson plans, videos and ideas for using authentic materials in the classroom. I hope to share some experiences and the ups and downs of avoiding the coursebook. I also plan, eventually, to look in to some of the theory behind using authentic language in the classroom. I hope to share the experiences of my journey into the world of what I call ‘authentic ELT’.

If you are doing a similar thing, or would like to, I would love to hear from you!
